How much does IVF cost? What published sources say
In vitro fertilization — eggs are fertilized with sperm in a lab, then the embryo is transferred to the uterus. Below are the cost statements published by ASRM and SART, quoted and dated, followed by what to ask a clinic so your quote is complete.

A guest on the SART Fertility Experts podcast describing typical prices in larger metropolitan markets (an individual's estimate, not an ASRM or SART position) said a standard IVF cycle commonly runs

These are general statements, not quotes for any clinic and not a prediction of what you will pay. Prices vary by clinic, region, protocol and year. Figures are shown as published on the dates above.
What to ask so you can compare quotes
- Which items are inside the quoted cycle price (monitoring visits, retrieval, lab work, embryo transfer, anesthesia) and which are billed separately?
- Are medications included, billed through an in-house pharmacy, or bought elsewhere, and who estimates the dose?
- Are ICSI, genetic testing and embryo freezing or storage priced separately?
- What happens financially if a cycle is cancelled or no embryo reaches transfer?
- Does the clinic offer written multi-cycle or refund programs, and what are the conditions?
General questions that apply to every treatment:
- What is included in a written cycle quote — monitoring, retrieval, transfer, anesthesia?
- How are medications billed — included, in-house pharmacy, or outside?
- What happens financially if a cycle is cancelled or does not result in a transfer?
- Are storage, genetic testing, and donor services priced separately?
- Which fees are due before stimulation starts?
Costs and your location
We do not have a sourced state-by-state or city-by-city price dataset, so we do not publish one. What we can show is which clinics are listed near you and where to check your state's insurance rules. Start with the state with the most listings or search the full directory.
Common questions
How much does one IVF cycle cost in the US?
Published sources give different figures because they measure different things. ASRM's patient site says the average cost of IVF is "around $11,000 to $12,000"; a guest on the SART Fertility Experts podcast described "$12,000 to $16,000" as common in larger metropolitan markets. Neither is a quote. Your total depends on the clinic, medications and what the cycle includes, so get a written estimate.
Why do IVF quotes differ so much between clinics?
ASRM's patient booklet warns that an estimate may not include "fees for initial consultation, screening tests, medications, and special procedures such as ICSI and cryopreservation". A podcast guest on SART's show said how much medication someone needs can move the total "by several thousand dollars". Comparing quotes only works if they list the same inclusions.
Does Fertility Listings show IVF prices for individual clinics?
No. Clinic profiles in this directory do not list prices, and we do not publish clinic-level price ranges we cannot source. Ask each clinic for an itemized written quote.
