If you and your partner have been attempting to become pregnant but for some, unknown, reason you are unable to, you might begin to get a little worried. If, through further natural pregnancy attempts, you continue to see no results then it becomes time to see a medical professional. Thinking about seeing a medical professional is the easy part, but deciding what type of medical professional to see is where things get a little tricky.

Family Doctor vs. Fertility Doctor

All your life, whenever a medical issue arose, the typical response was to go to your family doctor and find out what is wrong. Usually your family doctor was able to identify the problem and fix you within a couple days. For issues involving fertility, or lack thereof, the family doctor may not be able to solve your problems.

If you have unsuccessfully attempted to become pregnant for a period of 6 months or more, we can consider this a fertility emergency. This means that you simply do not have the type of time to waste by visiting a family doctor and must go directly to a fertility clinic. When dealing with fertility issues, time is something that should be treated as sacred. The reason is because as we age, our fertility naturally declines over time. If you decide to waste time, or take your time, seeking treatment you can end up disappointed and childless.

To put it simply, as soon as you even slightly suspect a fertility problem you should go directly to your local fertility clinic. If you are lucky and live in an area that has more than one or two fertility clinics, you may have to visit and learn about a clinic before deciding on one and that can take a lot of time in itself. Each and every fertility clinic is different and while you may love one, you can just as easily hate another.
