ART is a blanket term that covers a lot of more specific procedures and treatments, but basically if it has to do with female eggs or male sperm it is most likely associated with ART. Most of these ART treatments involve extracting eggs from a female and collecting sperm from a male subject. Once these two components are collected they are brought to a lab and manipulated in order to make a pregnancy more likely to happen, and happen successfully. If a treatment solely deals with sperm it is not considered a part pf ART, same too with medicines and treatments that only treat a woman’s reproductive system. Extraction of the eggs is key in every ART.
Types of ART include:
In Vitro
Fertilization (IVF)
Intracytoplasmic
Sperm Injection (ICSI)
Assisted
Hatching (AH)
Egg/Embryo
Donation
Preimplantation
Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)
Egg/Embryo
Freezing (Cyropreservation)
